LightFM's Comedy Gala
Thursday, June 23, 2011 at 1:21PM
What an amazing evening of clean laughs and clean comedy. Charlie Pickering being booted from a chatroom, Danny McGinlay doing Bear Grylls, Michael Connell’s trivia night victory, Ben Prices voices, and Mike Kliczak’s confusion at nappies were some of the highlights.
This evening has been run for three years now out the the Melbourne City Conference Centre in Swanston St and is a fundraiser to launch LightFM’s End of Financial Year Appeal. On top of that, it has provided Melbournians with the opportunity to be entertained without having to be subjected to smut and language.
I am not a critic of people using enuendo or language in comedy. I have my values and each to their own. However, I think it is important for people like myself, Ben Price, Michael Connell and others that share the same values to make sure there is an alternative.
Clean Comedy DVDIt is also important that if you enjoy a comedy show but want it without having your values seriously tested that you support evenings like the LightFM Comedy Gala, Squeaky Clean Comedy, as well as the solo shows of the artists and buying the DVD’s and product. If our comedians can’t make a living being clean then they will dissapear. Support the product you want to see.
The Melbourne Fringe Festival has as least two clean shows coming up with Michael Connell, myself & Leroy Brown registering a show and I will let you know if I hear of any others.
LightFM’s Comedy Gala featured Charlie Pickering from the 7PM Project, Danny McGinlay, Mike Klimczak, Michael Connell, Phil Andrews, Luke Holt from 89.9 LightFM, and Ben Price from the Australia’s Got Talent Final 2011.
