Fights, Manipulation, and Osama!

As it turns out I AM really that boring! My twin boys are only a few weeks old when they decided that when I talk, all they hear is, “blah blah…blahblahblah blahblah”.

Let me introduce you to Royden Axel Dillon on the left and Toby Morrison Levin on the right. Three names for each boy is a little unusual and is often the cause of a question or two and I would love to say it was steeped in a deep family history. I can’t truthfully say that though.

The first reason for three names: A lack of decision making harmony. Susie and I fought. We fought and fought and fought and fought every single time we discussed names. We accused the other one of not even seriously considering our suggestions, instead just writing them off straight away.

We accused the other one of not respecting ‘MY’ priorities, instead claiming that their own was APPARENTLY the only important priorities.

We accused the other one of being stubborn and silly.

We refused to have the conversation any more.

Eventually, just weeks away from their birth Susie said, “We need to decide on names.”, and I thought, “great, here we go again, let’s buckle up for another fight.” She then said, “I’ll give you Royden if you give me Toby.” I said, “Okay.” We were done.

The second reason for the three names was my total desire to manipulate my sons to support the Brisbane Lions. Yes you read correctly, the third name in each of my sons means ‘Lion’. Our first son Tyson has a third name of ‘Ariel’ which means ‘Lion of God’, Dillon means ‘Lion’, and so does Levin.

I don’t know if we are going to have a fourth child but if we do, I sure as heck hope it’s a girl because the next boys’ name that means Lion is Osama. Unfortunately I think Osama has been slightly tainted in recent years.

Just for the records, below is a list of all three boys’ names and why we chose each one.

Tyson Isaac Ariel: Means High-spirited, laughing, Lion of God

Royden Axel Dillon: Royden is my middle name and Axel means ‘Man of Peace’

Toby Morrison Levin: Toby means ‘God is good’ and Morrison came from Susie’s grandmother.

Wow!!! God is so good isn't he... who could have known he'd give you this double (really triple when you add Tyson!) blessing of these little guys! When we are tempted to doubt God's wisdom in our lives it is good to remember that he sees the future and has our best at heart! I am sure you are enjoying your newly crazy family and getting no sleep... but hey, that's what it's all about!!! I am very, very pleased for you all!

What beautiful boys...you are truly blessed. Just remember that God will not give you more than you can handle (at 2am when you are completely sleep deprived etc)! Thankyou for sharing your boys with all of us out there in radio land. We love listening to you and Susie (when she's on) and this just makes us feel included in your joy.

from the mummy of
Bethany Jane Sunshine - a house of fruifulness, God's graciousness & brightness
Destiny Hannah Joy - Destined to be, as Hannah in the bible,(& means Grace) joy
Lily Eliza Grace - innocent/ pure, consecrated to God, and grace once again.
we loved giving our girls 3 names, with the last one a spoken declaration over their lives... Ie Sunshine, Joy and Grace. And they are exactly that...
The first is bright and sunny, the second, is a joy with an incredibly infectious giggle.
Our third, Is sweet, innocent, and gracious. Theres a lot to be said in the power of the word, and its great that You guys have put so much thought into your little ones. God bless your 3 little lions as they grow up!

Congratulations to you both and also Tyson. May God Richly bless you both as you experience these gifts. They look adorable and very cute. Well done on being faitful to Him. May God give you utter joy with your boys at all times. I do hope that God will also grant me the desires of my heart and provide a baby or two. I'm thrilled you and Susie have come so far, since your struggle. It inspires me. Also, love hearing your interesting program full of your laughter in the mornings. I enjoy your show, keep up the good work. Cheers, Catherine

Thanks for the congrats and encouragement. It is a hard journey and nothing I can say will make it ok, I wish I could tell you it will happen and know I was 100% right. All I can say is to keep fighting, working and praying for the desires of your heart and keep finding a reason to smile even when it's hard.

Hey thanks for your encouragement. We love having people interested in our journey in some way...it has been a real honour.

Aslan, which we all know from the Narnia series, is actually the Turkish word for "lion". Might be a better choice than Osama, if you get the chance.
I'm so thrilled for you and Susie, that you have seen God's miraculous power and blessing in giving you three beautiful children after the struggles you shared about not having children. It's been a privilege to share this journey with you.

Thanks Lynn and yes Aslan is a better option than Osama. Leo is another option too.
